Hi all.
Could someone help me find where i should be looking for more info' please.
This is my Great grandfather... Short story here.
He was born in Wolverton, Bucks. He wasn't on the 1901 Census so i looked elsewhere(see att' doc) and this is what i found

The thing is, he turned up in Stoke on trent, after the 1911 census married my great grandmother and told her and my grandfather, as he grew up that he had come from wales and had no family! Non of that is true, tho he did have a grandmother in Oswestry! He died in 1919 of Spanish Flu
My family has never known anything about the Davies side and it's very sad now knowing that my grandfather as a little boy, had grandparents, aunts and uncles living in Buckinghamshire when his father died, he was five.
I don't know where to start looking, regarding his possible service.
W H Davies appears in the Imperial Military Railway, but just a name?

The attestaion doc' att is quite clear that it is my relation and that he "joined up" but what, where or when he did anything after that is unknown to me.
Any help or suggestions would be great.
Thank you for reading at least.
Mike

Mike,

An intriguing story.

Do the attestation papers you have list any of his service details?

Can you tell me his service number from the top of the papers please? I can't quite make it out from the image.

With thanks
David

Thank you. Yes it is quite a story. I have no other details of his life, service or otherwise only what i have found in the census records and this document. The number is 3118.
I have read here and elsewhere that Wolverton, Bucks raised a special company and a few were selected to join the main force in Africa. I may just be clutching at straws?
Thank you again for trying to help
