Looking for service information on Frederick Stacey, of the SIY during the period 1898-1909 . In his WWI Canadian Attestation papers he states he was a member of the SIY for 5 years. He resided in Shoreham by Sea, Southwick, near Hove and Brighton until emigrating to Canada in 1912.

I had a look in my IY roll for an "F.Stacey" in the Sussex IY and no one of that name (or Stacy, either) for that unit. Your man could have served post Boer War at home with the IY. Perhaps you might consider that "SIY" means something other than Sussex Imperial Yeomanry.

Many thanks. The WWI Attestation papers spell out Sussex Imperial Yeomanry, so it could be that Stacey was a member post Boer War, or maybe he fabricated the information to enhance his position in the Canadian Army.
