Thought this may be of interest - QSA to a Trooper Wright from Acton, Middlesex, SAC; comes with a photo, South African Constabulary cap badge, comes with his 1903 notebook with 50+ sides of daily duty notes, descriptions of interviewees, misspers, etc. Even has weapons' and horse numbers, with daily mileage recorded (presumably the equivalent of taking a milometer reading at the end of each day). Hopefully pictures will be the right way round! I will someday get around to transcribing it for posterity; might even form the basis of a short book or article. He left the SAC in 1904 and returned to England.

El Cid,

That does sound a fascinating item and an enjoyable summer task to transcribe?

Best wishes

Yes, that is the plan (although we all know what happens to plans!). It's the reason I purchased the medal. Be quite a glimpse into life on veldt immediately after the Boer War.

El CID,
I had seen this in the marketplace a couple of weeks ago. It looks a fascinating project and glad someone with a keen interest in the policing element of the campaign has picked it up.
Look forward to reading your account here or in your potential forthcoming book!
Cheers Steve
