PARADISE.

A complimentary social was tendered to Trooper Daniel COLEMAN on Friday evening. Councillor A.J. Miller occupied the chair. The proceedings were opened by the audience singing the National Anthem. Patriotic addresses were delivered by the chairman and Messrs McPhee, A. Anderson D.F. Pennington, and J.A. Darlington. After "Soldiers of the Queen" had been heartily sung, Mr T.E. Pennington, in an excellent speech, presented the guest with a gold albert and locket, suitably inscribed, on behalf of the residents. Dancing was kept up till daylight.
