Lowry | Taylor | | Lieutenant | He died September 19th, 1900, in London from blood poisoning contracted on service with his battalion in the campaign on the Tugela. He was the only son of Captain Edward L B Lowry, of Rockdale, Tullyhogue, Tyrone, late 41st Regiment. Lieutenant Lowry was born August 1875, educated at Loretto School, Musselburgh and Rossall, and entered the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers from the 4th Battalion in December 1896, being promoted Lieutenant June 1898. He embarked with his battalion for South Africa November 1899, and served with the Natal Field Force. He was present at the battle of Colenso and the operations from January 17th to 34th, 1900, and also in the fighting at Vaal Kranz. He was invalided home from Pietermaritzburg, and arrived in England in April 1900, but was unable to regain his strength and died.
