Wade | Alexander Price Conolly Hersch | | Lieutenant | He was killed in action at Spion Kop in the operations on the Upper Tugela, January 24th, 1900. He was the second son of Sir Thomas Francis Wade, GCMG, KCB, was born in August 1870, and educated at Winchester. He entered the East Yorkshire Regiment in January 1892, and was promoted Lieutenant, October 1895, and exchanged to the Royal Lancaster Regiment as a Lieutenant in February 1897. Lieutenant Wade accompanied his battalion to South Africa in November 1899, and served with the Natal Field Force. At Spion Kop he ran out leading some men to reinforce the firing line, and was instantly killed.
