The given year of about 1865 is well before the formation of the CMR, I would think that a good starting point would be to have someone look at the enlistment books for the FAMP. They were the forerunners of the CMR and the CP.

There is one more thing I.C.W van Wyk was a Captian in the British army in Eastern Cape fighting the Xhoza's about 1865 I have a picture of him in uniform, how and where do I find more info? Thanks.
