Ok solved it IT was an I not an S and an H not an A. Imperial Hospital corps IHC not SAC 08/07/01- 19/01 or 02?/02. Was he a pacifist or was he an Uitlander refugee. Was he at Spion Kop?

Tim,

He earned the 4 clasps to his QSA: OFS, Tr, RoL and LN.

If you do not already have it, I would suggest you would find the QSA roll for Driscoll's Scouts (in WO100/245) very useful. It can be downloaded for free from the National Archives site.

Best wishes
David

Hi David
Thank you I now have that. Tried to look if I could download attestation/ enrolment forms of the Driscoll Scouts to no avail. What would it cost to get these? They give a lot of info like next of kin and addresses etc.
Regards
Tim

Tim,

None of the attestation papers are available online at TNA.

I have contacted someone who may be able to help and will email you more on this.

Kind regards
David

Goodday Driscall's Scts QSA owners
I was fortunate to buy a QSA with 5 bars to Tpr 26419 John M Allander - Driscoll's Scouts in Australia during a recent visit to family in WA..
The corps were active all over in the Orange River Colony, Could he have been at Wepener?
The book 'The Colonials in SA' have very little to say as he's not mentioned, so he seems not to have been wounded or KIA?
Further info will be welcomed

A man with that name is not shown as being present at Wepener in the Biggins book and roll. Nor does he have an entry in the Palmer Casualty roll.
Some of Driscoll's were at Wepener; 56 all-ranks.
